Form from the Formless (Under Bundanon Stars)

Form from the Formless (Under Bundanon Stars) 2025, is a sculptural installation of paintings that combines intense diagrammatic studies of geometric colour with the Bundanon night sky. Painted on music manuscript and displayed on music stands, the work conflates the realms of geometry, colour, music and the cosmos to highlight Sequeira’s persistent themes of continuity and infinity.

Music, geometry, and colour are deeply interconnected through the shared language of mathematics and perception. Music is structured by patterns and ratios that can be represented geometrically — namely waveforms and harmonics. Geometry, with its emphasis on symmetry and proportion, mirrors the structural balance found in musical compositions. Colour, like sound, is a wave phenomenon, and both can be described in terms of frequency, allowing for analogies and mappings between them. Contextualising, these three elements within the cosmos, Form from the Formless (Under Bundanon Stars) suggests a mystical unity of sensory experiences, mathematics, artistic expression and endlessness. Echoing these themes, the work is accompanied by musical compositions by Elena Kats-Chernin and Hari Sivanesan.
