Felt is a textile material that is produced by matting, condensing and pressing fibres together. Felt can be made of natural fibres such as wool or animal fur, or from synthetic fibres such as petroleum-based acrylic or acrylonitrile or wood pulp-based rayon. Blended fibres are also common. Felt can be used to dampen vibration and absorb sound. The word ‘felt’ is also the past tense of the word ‘feel’.
