CAN YOU HEAR MY VOICE

Can you hear my voice?

18 March through to 1 May 2021

The curatorial research for Can you hear my voice?  began through conversations with Kashmiri artist and PhD candidate Moonis Shah whilst on a field trip in India. Although I am Indian born and have been back many times, these conversations profoundly deepened my awareness of the complexities associated with notions of language, memory and national imagination in India and Pakistan. Nuanced and poetic, works by Bushra Mir, Huma Mulji, Moonis Ahmad Shah, Mubashir Niyaz and Gramart Project address geographic, socio-political and metaphoric qualities associated with borders and ownership in the region.
